It’s all about relationships in this episode. TK and Isaac kick it off by discussing relationships between parents and their teens, followed by listener questions on how to talk to your boss about rebranding, and how to leverage your way into a specific role you want.

Should you disagree with your parents? How can parents deal with their teens as they grow into autonomous adults and have ideas that are, frankly, stupid?

Leveraging my Job
I got a temp job doing data entry at a security company. I’ve got this idea and I need your help implementing it. I’ve been in training with them all week, and I’ve noticed that all their onboarding material is in desperate need of proofreading. I’ve found at least one typo in every piece of paper I’ve been given. There are even some serious mistakes in the call center scripts, which need to be read verbatim. These mistakes make completing calls difficult for everyone, including the customers. I know I have the skills to fix these mistakes. I have tons of experience editing corporate documents and online data. I asked my trainer if there are any editors on staff, and she said she didn’t think so.
I want to find a way to get hired on as a full-time editor for the company, but how do I approach it? Who should I talk to? How do I transition from being a temp answering phones to a full-time editor?
How to Start a Conversation With my Company About Its Brand
I’m currently reading Building a Storybrand. I’m noticing the company I’m working for makes it really hard for customers to understand the brand. I’d love to make changes to our copy based on the book, but I’m unsure how to convince my boss that we need to move our marketing department in an entirely new direction. I guess my question is how do I approach or have that initial conversation about changing our branding?
