Not everybody who participates in Praxis does so just for the quality education or the work experience. Some participate for the opportunity to get their feet in the door at an organization with which they’d love to work. Josh Jaye, from Charleston, SC, is one such participant. Josh will be working in development at Students For Liberty, gaining the skills to become a successful fundraiser by working with those who have a track record of success in that sector.
About three months ago this past fall semester, I was in my foreign policy class thinking to myself, “this information that I am learning is very fascinating but would it be helpful to my future careers?” I started to question it: what if all of the educational material that I have learned in college will not help me get to where I want to be in life? I had already been involved with Students For Liberty and Young Americans for Liberty and these two non-profit organizations had changed my life for the better. When talking to Praxis founder Isaac Morehouse and former Praxis graduates I realized that the Praxis curriculum could help me inspire my creative spirit and reach my full potential.
Praxis is the opportunity I needed to get where I want to be and do what I want to do. I will learn about economics, philosophy, history, and entrepreneurship through the Praxis online learning module. Their 10 month apprenticeship program with a start-up business will be just as an impactful experience as well. I am very excited to work with Students For Liberty, a non-profit organization in which I will see firsthand how development works for a non-profit. Praxis will be the beginning of a new exciting chapter in my life in which I will seek to learn more about myself as a person.
