We’re always excited to introduce you to the young people that will be tomorrow’s leading entrepreneurs. This week, we have Fall participant James Walpole. After learning about Praxis from one of his favorite thinkers and entrepreneurs, James decided to apply to the program, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring him on!
Growing up and working on a family farm, I grasped the importance of independence and competency from a young age. I learned that, with consistency and creativity, I can experience the individuation and personal autonomy necessary for a fulfilling life. These values have driven my growth thus far, particularly in my self-directed education and contemplation.
My studies have taken me into the analysis of history, philosophy, science, and economics and to the conclusion of the moral and practical necessity of human freedom. The achievement of this freedom in all realms, political and personal, has become a primary goal for me. Having seen and felt the stagnation and purposelessness of many college students, I doubt that I will achieve any such goal in the environment of academia. It is my hope, through my work with Praxis and my business partner, to apply the idea of freedom in a tangible, valuable way in my life and the lives of others.
I believe that practical freedom is achievable through the work which entrepreneurs do daily to creatively solve the challenges of humanity and to disrupt and provide alternatives to institutions and ideas which can stagnate and hold humanity back, from intellectual monopoly to state control of health care (and many more). The business partners of Praxis are at the fore of this creative subversion. The opportunity to work with a Praxis business partner will be my opportunity to participate in the creation and facilitation of the products and services which are making a better world. I look forward to this adventure!
There are still a few spots left in the Fall class. Apply today and join others like James!
