I honestly thought college was the only route to becoming successful.
Sure, there are those nifty stories of how Bill Gates and Steve Jobs started their multi-billion dollar businesses from virtually nothing, but what were the odds of me being prosperous like them? Their success was both inspirational and discouraging all at once, which left me in the exact same spot…I guess it’s college for me. But I just couldn’t shake the notion that there had to be a better way.
University administrators like to tell you that a college degree guarantees a good paying solid career. That narrative just didn’t play out for countless people I knew and I didn’t want to sink four or five years of my life and tens of thousands of dollars into a Hail Mary pass. Then I came across something interesting on Facebook called Praxis.
It wasn’t the cool name or nifty icon that caught my eye, but the word “entrepreneurial”. My parents have always described me as an entrepreneur; coming up with new ideas and taking on real life problems and working on them until I found a solution. It was my eureka moment. It was like Praxis was designed just for me. I am going to go into the business community, take my enthusiasm and ideas and jump right into application. I am going to make a difference!
