Since launching Praxis, we’ve met amazing, entrepreneurial young people all across the country.
From right out of high school to college grads who won’t settle for a cubicle-sitting job, there are ambitious young people out there who want to create value, work closely with entrepreneurs, founders, and business owners to see what running a company is like, and who are excited about the opportunity to break the mold.
We’ve also had huge demand from business partners.
Businesses know how hard it is to find driven, passionate, and courageous young people to join their teams. They jump at the opportunity to bring on Praxis participants.
Some of our best business partners have been in industries not captured by the startup stereotype. From manufacturing and construction services to energy and marketing, these companies provide an excellent experience for participants to see how profitable companies are built and how value is created for happy customers.
Though not often in the headlines, dynamic business activity isn’t only in Silicon Valley — it’s also in hubs of enterprise all across the country. Business partners and young people in places overlooked by the traditional narratives and trends are hungry to grow and thrive — they just need to be connected to each other.
The demand for what Praxis offers — working at a growing business while engaged in a rigorous professional and personal development education experience — has been strong from the Steel City. We’ve seen a number of good applicants to the program and immense interest from businesses in nearly every industry from the Pittsburgh region.
The city still possesses the entrepreneurial spirit and the resources necessary to create value for people everywhere. That makes it a great fit with Praxis.
“Why Pittsburgh? In many ways Pittsburgh is the perfect place to launch a local version of the Praxis program. It embodies what we call “blue collar work ethic and Silicon Valley idealism” – a combination of bold, ambitious thinking with practical grit and work ethic. It’s got a rich history of creativity and action, but it’s not stuck in the past. It’s managed to change with the world and not lean on old industries alone. It’s one of those cities full of opportunity with all the right characteristics but often overlooked for trendier places. Just like with Praxis applicants, that’s where the gems are found! We couldn’t be more excited to tap the combined power of Steel City business partners and eager young talent from the region and provide an education and career experience befitting of a city won’t quit.” — Praxis CEO, Isaac Morehouse
We’ve opened up a Praxis office in Pittsburgh to meet with and get to know the best, Praxis-quality young people in the region and recruit the best companies in the area to join our network. This is the same one-year Praxis program, but focused on participants and business partners in Pittsburgh. This will allow participants to network with each other, share their experience, and connect to businesses and entrepreneurs right in their back yard.
We will pair a number of ambitious young people from the Pittsburgh region with growing companies excited to host them in 2016.
We are looking for courageous, motivated, and hard-working young people from the Pittsburgh area to join Praxis Pittsburgh in 2016. There are a limited number of spots available.
Accepted applicants for the June 2016 cohort who apply by January 31 are eligible for an additional $1,000 scholarship to the program.
If this sounds like somebody you know, pass this along to them. We’d love to meet them.
